Privacy Policy — Vaelareth: Text RPG Roguelike

Vaelareth: Text RPG Roguelike ("Vaelareth", "the game") is a single-player, offline role-playing game for Android, made by Jereneo Joven, an independent developer based in the United Arab Emirates ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what information the game handles, why, and what rights you have over it.

Summary

• The game has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. The game itself makes no network connections.
• Your progress and settings are saved on your device. If you choose, Android can also include them in your own Google backup.
• Purchases go through Google Play. We never see your card or payment details.
• We only receive personal information if you email us, or in the limited order records Google Play gives developers when you make a purchase.
• We do not sell or share your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.

1. Information the game stores on your device

The game saves your progress (characters, runs, codex, gems, unlocks, Hall of Fame) and your settings in the app's local storage on your device. We cannot see or access this data. Uninstalling the game, clearing its data, or using Settings → Erase all progress deletes it.

Device backups (optional). If you have backup turned on for your Google account, Android's Auto Backup feature may include the game's saved data in that backup, so your progress can move with you to a new phone. Google creates and stores this backup under your account and Google's Privacy Policy. We cannot access it. You can turn backup off at any time in your device's settings.

2. Information we receive

When you buy something. Premium and gem packs are sold through Google Play Billing. Google handles the payment and is responsible for the data it collects, under the Google Privacy Policy. We don't receive your card number or other payment details. To deliver and restore your purchases, the game reads a purchase record from Google Play (the product and a purchase token). Google also gives developers limited order records, which may include the order number, product, price, date and your country or region.

When you contact us. If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use this only to answer you (for example, a bug report or a purchase problem).

App store statistics. Google Play gives developers aggregated statistics and crash and performance reports ("Android vitals") from devices whose owners chose to share usage and diagnostic data with Google. These reports are collected by Google, not by the game, and don't identify you to us. You control this sharing in your device's Google settings.

This website. This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may log visitors' IP addresses for security, under GitHub's Privacy Statement. We don't receive those logs.

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone, camera or any other device data. The game declares Android's standard internet permission, which the app framework adds and Google Play purchases use. The game itself makes no network connections, and it asks for no permissions that need your approval.

3. How we use it

We don't make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects, and we don't profile you.

4. How we share it

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't "share" it for targeted advertising (as US state laws define those terms). We disclose it only:

• to Google, which runs Google Play, its billing and Android backup, as described above;
• to professional advisers (such as an accountant or lawyer) when needed;
• to authorities when the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety;
• to a buyer or successor if the game is ever sold or transferred, who must then honour this policy.

5. How long we keep it

• Emails: up to 2 years after our last exchange, then deleted, unless we need them longer for a legal claim.
• Order records: as long as tax and accounting laws require.
• Data on your device: until you delete it (see section 1).

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, UK, UAE, or a US state with a privacy law), you may have the right to:

• access the personal information we hold about you and get a copy;
• correct it;
• delete it;
• receive it in a portable format or have it sent to someone else;
• restrict or object to how we use it (including where we rely on legitimate interests);
• withdraw consent, where we rely on consent;
• appeal if we turn down your request.

Email crownflarejei@gmail.com to use any of these rights. We may need to confirm it's you before we act. We'll reply within one month (EU/UK) or 45 days (US states), and we won't treat you differently for using your rights. Most game data never reaches us. To delete it, uninstall the game or use Erase all progress.

Complaints. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to your local data protection authority. In the EU, find yours at edpb.europa.eu. In the UK, it's the Information Commissioner's Office. In the UAE, it's the UAE Data Office. Please contact us first so we can try to fix it.

7. International transfers

We're based in the UAE. If you're in the EU or UK and you email us, your message will be processed in the UAE, which doesn't have an EU or UK "adequacy" decision. We process it there because we need to in order to answer you (GDPR Article 49(1)(b)), and we keep it to the minimum. Google processes data under its own international transfer safeguards.

8. Security

There's very little to secure, because we hold very little. Emails are kept in a password-protected email account. No method of storage is perfectly secure, but we limit what we keep.

9. Children

Vaelareth is rated for teens and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has emailed us, contact us and we'll delete the message. If you're under 18, please get a parent's or guardian's permission before making purchases.

10. Changes

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version at this address and update the "Last updated" date. If a change is significant, for example if the game ever adds ads or analytics, we'll also announce it in the game or on its store listing before the change takes effect.
